Blundering Fool of the Week of 1/14

Foolish Babe January 22nd, 2008

This week the honor goes to Cassie Edwards, Romance Novelist, AND plagiarist.

Harsh, I know, to declare her a plagiarist but my goodness, the evidence on this one is ridiculous.

As a writer, I take this very seriously. I sure wouldn’t want to find out (alert: plug coming) that chunks of one of my brilliantly written short stories such as Dancing on The Riverbank were ripped off and placed in a virtually unknown (e.g. Cassie Edwards) author’s novel. I mean, if an author is going to rip me off, let it be someone known such as well, let’s see, Stephen King, John Grisham, Michael Crichton or the likes. Don’t get me wrong, I’d still be pissed as all HELL and I would BRING down the wrath on whoever stole passages from my works and claimed them as their own. But at least if it were someone known I could say, “OH. MY. GOD. You are not going to believe who plagiarized my work. Wait for it…Stephen King.” Friends and Family members scream in unison, “SHUT UP!”

With Ms. Edwards, it would go something like this, “You are not going to believe who plagiarized my work. Wait for it…Cassie Edwards.” Friends and Family members mumble in unison, “Who?” Followed by “that’s too bad, now pass the potatoes.”

In all seriousness, listen up fools, we here at Blundering Fools do not condone plagiarism no matter who you are. Want to be an author? Here’s a tip. Write your own stuff. Don’t have what it takes to write fiction? Cool, it’s not for everyone. Put the pen down and go do something else, maybe try singing or painting or dancing or cooking or…

We here at Blundering Fools are all for walking the road less traveled; after all, how the heck are you going to discover what it is you were meant to do? Just remember to stay HONEST while you are finding your way.

Tis all.

Now go and read all the gory details of Ms. Edwards’ antics over at Smart Bitches

After all, they were the ones who broke the story.

Blunder on, Fools!
